Venturing Oath

As a Venturer, I promise to do my duty to God and help strengthen America, to help others, and to seek truth, fairness, and adventure in our world.

Camp Big Mac

March 16, 2007toMarch 18, 2007

Our first campout will be at Camp Big Mac, just outside Front Royal. We’ll depart from the Church Friday evening after work & school, and return Sunday early noon.

We will do pistol and shotgun shooting, with class instruction in the weeks preceeding the campout. There will be tent or cabin camping available.

Camp Big Mac is very ‘new camper’ friendly, with a full lodge/mess hall, kitchen, indoor plumbing, etc. You can see some of it here.

Sue bought a gun

Sue bought her first pistol last night. Its a cute little Walther P22. Its funny ironic that my wife is now a gun owner, considering she never wanted them in the house for the longest time.

The other interesting thing we discovered is that she is left eye dominant, which means that she now has to learn all over again. Hey, if it means more range time for me too, I’m all for it.

Venture Training this Weekend

Don’t forget University of Scouting’s Venture training for adults and youth this weekend. All youth are encouraged to take this once-a-year training opportunity. It is a requirement for the Silver Award. You can get more details here. Adults want to look for the College of Adventure Scouting, youth want to look for VLSC(Y) – Venturing Leadership Skills Course (Youth). This is listed in the stand-alone course section. Walk-in are welcome, so you should not have any worries if you did not preregister.

Hope to see you there!
