Venturing Crew 1150

Mike and I have the opportunity to take Shotgun Instructor Class next week. There are a few openings in an unscheduled class we are going to take advantage of. Once that is done, its just Rilfles that is left.

Mike, Judi, and I completed and passed our NRA Instructor couse this past weekend, so we are now certified instructors in Basic Pistol, Pistol First Steps, Home Firearm Safety, and Personal Protection in the Home. We are working to schedule our rifle and shotgun classes as soon as possible.

We will start working on getting the course material so we can run the Crew through the Basic Pistol class so we can start taking you to the range. Stay tuned for class information and schedules.

This is the Spring Camporee, and the theme is emergency preparedness. There will be several rescue simulations, and looks to be a lot of fun. As a Crew, we will be camping, and we can either participate in the program, or help staff the program. One of the things they will need is photographers (both still and video), so if you have any skills in those areas, let Tony know. We’ll talk more about Camporee as the date draws closer.

We had a good meeting last night, although we did not get any guests from the Church yet. Its still early though.

We elected some officers - specifically President, Vice-President, and Secretary. We still need a second VP and a Treasurer.

Our next meeting will be in two weeks (Feb 26th - see the calendar for times), and will be at Red, Hot, and Blue - a BBQ restaurant in the shopping center at the intersection of Beulah and Telegraph Roads. Main agenda items will probably be electing the rest of the officers, and scheduling a time to go to the local range. By then Mike, Judi, and I will have our NRA Instructor certifications, and we can run you through the Basic Marksmanship Class. When we go to the range, a parent will have to accompany you, so make sure you have an idea of what dates work for them too.

We’ll be meeting at Red, Hot, and Blue this time. Its in the shopping center at the intersection of Beulah and Telegraph Roads. Meet us there between 7pm and 7:30pm.
