Venturing Oath

As a Venturer, I promise to do my duty to God and help strengthen America, to help others, and to seek truth, fairness, and adventure in our world.

Crew Gear

Here is a list of things that you need to have (eventually):

For Venturing

All items can be purchased at the Scout Shop in Springfield (5234 Port Royal Road in Springfield and is located in the Ravensworth Shopping Center).

  • Venturing/Ranger Handbook
  • Venturing Leaders Guide (Crew will provide)
  • Uniform
    • Spruce Green Shirt
      • NCAC Council Shoulder Patch (there is a standard design, and annual special designs; pick the one you like; you can see some here)
      • Crew Number (Crew will provide)
      • Green Shoulder Tabs
      • Venturing Emblem
      • Crew Officer Patch (if needed, Crew will provide)
      • Boy Scouts may wear their Scout Rank patch
    • Cargo pants (Crew will decide color/style at future meeting)
    • Class B Activity Shirt (Crew will decide style at future meeting)

For Camping

All items can be purchased at a local outdoor store such as REI, Hudson Trail, Sports Authority, etc. Recommend you not purchase any new camping gear until the Crew determines what style of camping they prefer (car, ‘normal,’ lightweight, etc.). The Crew has crew gear such as tents, cooking gear, lanterns, etc. so you do not need to purchase any of those types of items unless you want to.

  • Personal mess kit
  • Personal hygiene kit
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Ground Pad
  • Other gear will be determined by camping venue

For Shooting

All items can be purchased at a local outdoor store such as Sports Authority, Models, or even WalMart. Not required if you are not participating in shooting. The Crew has some extras, but it would help to have your own.

  • Eye protection
  • Ear protection (headphone style preferred for some activities, ‘foamies’ will suffice for most activities)
